Creating an Effective Budget
A lot of people think that they know how to manage their money, but then they’re upset and dismayed to find that their bank accounts are surprisingly lacking in funds. If this sounds familiar, it’s time to seriously sit down and assess your funds. Creating a budget is never fun, and it’s never easy, but it is a pivotal part of making sure that your funds and your lifestyle work in conjunction with one another.
As a very general rule, your mortgage or rent should account for a third of your total income. If this isn’t the case but you don’t want to move locations, you might have to look into some supplemental income. Whether it’s a second job or some creative investing, when you earn extra income it shouldn’t cause you to simply spend more. Rather, you should keep your standard of living but stash away the extra money for a rainy day or your savings account.
